Bought 5 rummy-nose tetra last week and had them in a quarantine tank to treat them of parasites and bacteria for 24 hours. Introduced them into our main tank and they killed all of the other tetra (7) in the tank. Only the bottom feeders survived. Took water samples and the dead body’s to the store and the 2 women told us that the pH was low and nitrogen was high and said the stress may have caused the death, but that does not explain the death of the other already established 7 fish. They tried to explain that the other deaths were due to old age, but they all died within a 3 days span. The workers did not try to compensate us for our loss. I will not be buying anymore fish from this store.

This store is nothing short of amazing. I only have good things to say every time I go. When you come here, you aren’t just buying fish. You’re buying into a supportive, informed, and caring community. Both Ashley and Taylor are incredibly knowledgeable (owners). Not only do they know a ton about fish, but they also care a lot about your tank. They never hesitate to answer a question about a sick fish, a dying plant, or a mysterious algae. I speak from experience. The wonderful staff at Southern Aquatics have helped me save fish on multiple occasions. Not only are the people who work there great, but the store is also very nice. Their fish and plants are always healthy. They have a big selection of fertilizers, meds, and foods. Not only that, but they also carry nice driftwood, rocks, and more. Even if you’re not close, this place is worth the drive! I don’t normally write reviews, but Southern Aquatics deserves it. This is THE best LFS if you want healthy fish and amazing staff. - Nathan

I cannot say enough good things about Southern Aquatics and the incredible customer service we have received. My aquarium journey started with a phone call to Sarah Beth. As a complete beginner looking to set up a tank for a betta, snails, and shrimp, I had a lot of questions. Sarah Beth was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and generous with her time. She walked me through the basics, answered every question thoroughly, and helped me feel much more confident about getting started. She even let me know that she might not be in the store later that afternoon, but assured me that one of her coworkers would be available to help. When we arrived at the store, we were greeted by Hunter, and the experience only got better. Hunter took the time to give us a complete rundown of everything we needed—from equipment and supplies to tank setup, cycling, plants, and livestock. He carefully explained the steps needed for long-term success and provided a realistic timeline for when to add each type of fish, shrimp, and snail. As beginners, having someone willing to educate us rather than simply sell products made all the difference. Since then, we've returned several times, and every visit has

We started a 20 gallon tank in December and the staff here have been great about helping us choose hearty fish and guiding us on tank maintenance. We have purchased 12 fish total so far (4 danios, 4 rasboras, 4 Cory's) and two snails along with plants and all have been very healthy and have thrived in our tank. Considering we are fish novices I have to give credit where credit is due to the staff for contributing to our success.

We had an awesome experience at Southern Aquatics! Their plant selection was incredibly hearty and well-maintained—everything looked vibrant and healthy. The freshwater fish selection was impressive, and we ended up getting a great mix of plants, fish, snails, and shrimp to restart two of our tanks that had gone a bit haywire. The staff was super knowledgeable and patient, walking us through the process of getting our tanks back to livable conditions. They even helped us dial in our water parameters so we weren’t unintentionally committing fishy crimes 😅. We’ll definitely be back—this is now our go-to spot for all things aquatic!
